Mildred Mariel (Mexico City, 1991) is an upright and electric bassist, bandleader, composer, arranger, educator, and writer based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. She is a graduate of the Escuela Superior de Música del  Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura in Mexico City and holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. Since 2010, she has performed in jazz clubs and cultural festivals across Mexico and the U.S., appearing at renowned venues throughout both regions. Her work includes a variety of musical productions and recordings, such as Rosa Mexicano (2020) with Calacas Jazz Band and Manual de Duelo (2021) by Paulina Parga.

In 2024, Mildred launched her own project under the name Mildred Mariel, presenting original compositions and arrangements rooted in jazz, Latin American rhythms, and contemporary music. Through this project, she explores themes of identity, migration, and musical hybridity, collaborating with musicians from diverse backgrounds. The ensemble is flexible in format, ranging from trio to jazz orchestra, and reflects her artistic voice as both a bassist and a composer-arranger.

In 2025, Mildred participated in musical theater productions including Jesus Christ Superstar, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Ain’t Misbehaving, and In The Heights. She currently collaborates with pianist Aakash Sridhar on their cross-cultural project East Meets West, performing across the DFW jazz scene, and works with the rock ensemble Yolanda Cruz and the Daydreamers. She was recently selected to take part in the JAS Academy Snowmass Afro-Caribbean Sessions, hosted by the Frost School of Music in partnership with the University of Miami, under the artistic direction of Etienne Charles. Today, she leads her own jazz orchestra, crafting bold and storytelling musical experiences.
